Boyd Hall Pay Grade: Professional Job Description: The Associate Vice President for Research Compliance, Security, and Analytics reports to the Vice President of Research & Economic Development.
The Associate Vice President coordinates with the Director of Research Compliance and Integrity, all unit research leaders as well as college-level administrators, the procedures that support the conduct of research in a safe and productive environment with adherence to strict ethical principles, in accordance with the highest standards of integrity, and in compliance with federal, state and LSU policies; and that research performance is managed in scholarly and professional manner with regard to regulations and protocols that promote the LSU Research Experience.
This Associate Vice President serves as the LSU Associate Research Integrity Officer and the LSU Research Security Officer.
Job Responsibilities: -Serve as the LSU Associate Research Integrity Officer and the LSU Research Security Officer that ensures compliance with laws and regulations pertaining to research misconduct and integrity by following university research policies.
These duties include, but not limited to: 1) Research misconduct associated with exports/export controls and excluded parties/sanctions; responsible conduct of research (NSF and NIH); financial conflict of interest (FCOI) (NSF and NIH); international research protocols, such as disclosures, as prescribed in state and national policies; and university policies.
2) Providing guidance, information and education to researchers, staff, students, and administrators concerning regulatory requirements related to research misconduct and security to all unit research leaders as well as college-level administrators, the Office of Sponsor Programs, Sponsored Program Accounting, Budge and Planning, the Office of Intellectual Property, Office of Innovation & Ecosystem Development, Office of Risk Management, Environmental Health & Safety, and General Counsel.
3) Assists in the continued development and operations of electronic disclosure system(s) that support compliance with University policies and procedures for the review and management of FCOIs.
4) Contributes to the LSU Research Experience by providing leadership and guidance pertaining to promoting a culture of scholarly integrity and compliance using professional judgment and flexibility in interpreting and applying state, federal and international regulations.
(60%) -Provide leadership and oversight pertaining to research compliance with all federal, state, local and internal policies governing university-based research activities as supervisor to the Director of Research Compliance and Integrity.
Provide guidance on current and proposed university policies and procedures to minimize and prevent risk of non-compliance, promote safety in research workplace, and assure compliance with all human subjects and animal care and use research protocols.
(20%) -Contribute to the analytical evaluation of research performance using a variety of software packages such as academic analytics, SCOPUS, google scholar, etc.
Collaborate with the Office of Academic Affairs in the overview of faculty, center and institute productivity and honorific recognition that is evidence based and data driven.
Contribute to the dashboards that summarize research productivity and performance.
(10%) -Other duties as directed by Vice President for Research and Economic Development (10%) Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree and 10 years experience; experience working in higher education research setting.
Preferred Qualifications: Ph.
D or JD and 7 years experience in research administration, integrity, or compliance.
