The comprehensive program will emphasize success in bar passage as well as in first-year courses, both of which require the development of strong critical reading, analysis, and legal-writing skills.
Job Responsibilities: 50%: Develop and teach curriculum for first, second, and/or third-year academic support courses.
Provide extracurricular support for third-year students and for LSU Law graduates as they prepare to sit for the bar examination.
30%: Responsible for the oversight, development, and implementation of a comprehensive academic success program to assist students in the transition to law school and to promote their successful completion of the J.
D.
program and bar passage; work regularly with other law school faculty and administration, as well as other staff and faculty within the academic success program, on analysis of academic achievement and bar examination results and strategies for academic success and bar passage.
Supervise any direct support individuals for the academic support program.
15%: Coordinate existing academic success programs, including pre-orientation program for a subset of entering first-year students, first-year academic success program, and first-year academic tutoring program.
Coordinate any additional programming within the comprehensive academic success program, such as workshops or counseling on essential law school skills.
5%: Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school (or international equivalent).
Minimum of two years experience in law practice and/or law teaching with a focus on critical reading, analysis, and legal-writing skills.
Some experience related to program support, management, and/or coordination is required.
Admitted to practice law in at least one state.
Preferred Qualifications: At least three years of experience in a law school academic support program is strongly preferred.
