Long Center, Carville, LA SALARY: MW-210/ $35,734 - $64,314 annually BENEFITS Retirement: Louisiana State Retirement System (LASERS), Deferred Compensation Insurance: Medical, Life, Dental & Vision Paid Holidays: 10 days per year, additional holidays may be proclaimed.
Paid Leave: Annual and Sick, rate increases with tenure.

42:1701, if you are nominated for this position, you will be required to undergo a criminal background check prior to commencement of employment with the Louisiana Military Department.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Install, alters, maintains and repairs plumbing fixtures and equipment such as water lines, sewerage lines, gas lines, steam lines, gas heaters, hot water heaters, water fountains and steam cookers.
Repairs and replaces worn plumbing fixtures.
Repair leaking faucets and open clogged drains.
Inspects, repairs and make adjustments to piping and tubing connected to steam pumps and air compressors, water pumps and heaters.
Directs and trains apprentices’ helpers.
Must continue to work towards a Journeyman plumbing certification.
Must be able to weld to joint all type of plumbing and fabricate brackets from ageing unfractured.
Must be able to use cutting touches and grinders to assist installation welder in numerous tasks and repairs.
Must maintain and wear all safety related equipment and/or report any violations or deficiencies.
Must use energy conservation measures and ensure that these measures are taken daily before leaving the job site.
Main accountability of all equipment and/or ensure data cards are up to date.
Maintain and practice good environmental protection measure.
Must respond to tenant requests with professionalism and courtesy.
Must inform the supervisor of all telephone and address changes.
Perform other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Must be able to perform the manual labor tasks associated with maintenance and repair of post plumbing, sewer and natural gas system.
Must be able to determine scopes of work, material, labor and equipment required from verbal instructions or work orders.
GENERAL: Must have a valid Driver’s License, Social Security Card and Birth Certificate.
Must qualify to obtain a Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC) Card.
Periodic travel may be required.
Must be available to report to duty during emergency or disaster situations.
Must have the ability to work and communicate effectively with agency personnel, peers, superiors, subordinates and the public.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must meet physical requirements to perform functions of the position.
Must attend/complete all LMD annual training and other training required for the position.
Must adhere to the Code of Ethics and foster a Sexual Harassment-Free Environment.
