Position Summary:
A Fireproofer operates spray painting and sandblasting equipment to apply protective coatings and paints to fabricated structural steel material in a production environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform a variety of routine and preventive maintenance painting duties, such as high steel and structural steel painting, and sand blasting.
Operate equipment to clean, wash, strip, sand, remove corrosion, fill dents, or otherwise prepare fabricated steel items for application of paint and or other protective coatings.
Correct work as directed, repair nicks, scratches, or other small imperfections in the finish.
Operate spray or flow coating equipment or other painting or product coating equipment as required.
Clean and maintain painting and coating, ventilation, compressed air and personal protective equipment.
Prepare and apply stencils, computer generated decals and barcodes on the finished products.
Qualifications and Requirements:
High school diploma/GED equivalent
Valid driver’s license
Written and verbal communication skills
1 year of Experience in an industrial painting environment
Knowledge of methods and techniques related to painting in specialized areas and work environments.
Knowledge of methods and techniques related to the safe use, storage and disposal of paint and cleaning products and chemicals, and safe cleanup techniques and practices.
