Perritt Professorship in Youth Services.
This new open rank position is funded through an endowment from Richard Peck, the renowned young adult author; Mr.
Peck was appointed as an Adjunct Professor in the School in 1996 and taught courses until 2010.
The professorship is named in honor of former SIS faculty member Dr.
Patsy H.
Perritt (Emerita).
The School invites applications from candidates with demonstrated research and teaching in Youth Information Behavior/Youth Services which focuses on one or more of the following areas: Youth information use and seeking Youth media and cultural studies Emerging literacies Youth information places and spaces, including makerspaces Youth services and outreach to underrepresented and underserved communities, including information justice This is a nine-month academic appointment with an anticipated start date of August 2024.
Responsibilities: Engage in scholarly research in the appropriate area leading to publication in peer-reviewed scholarly journals.
Seek appropriate grant funding for such research.
Teach core courses for the MLIS and electives related to youth behavior and services.
Advise and mentor students.
Actively assist with student recruitment.
Participate in service activities pertaining to the mission of the School, the College, and the University.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The Perritt Professor will receive an annual salary supplement and access to endowed funds to support research, travel, outreach, and/or other allowable expenses.
