*Minimum Requirements*:
* Bachelor degree from an accredited university
* Current and valid Type A, Type A\*, Type B, Type B\*, Type C, Level 1, Level II, Level II\*, Level III, or Level III\* Early Childhood cerfication (i.
e.
PK-3rd grade, Early Interventionist, Nursery School, Kindergarten, or Noncategorical Preschool Handicapped) from the Louisiana Department of Education or Elementary Education certification who are willing to pursue the add-on PK-3 certification or Early Interventionist certification OR are currently enrolled in a PK-3rd grade Alternate Certification Program
*Duties and Responsibilities:*
*Teaching*: Initiates, directs, and evaluates learning; implements the content of the curriculum effectively; fosters creativity, encourages self-initiated learning and responsible self-direction; guides students in applying knowledge and skills to new problem-solving situations; manifests an attitude of enthusiasm for learning; inspires others by his/her own integrity and example
*Planning*: Plans interesting and varied approaches for presenting content materials; prepares questions for discussions; correlates home assignments with lessons taught; gears field trips to the age, interest and needs of his/her students; engages in long-rang, as well as weekly planning; prepares materials that are appropriate and relevant to student learning and engagement
*Non-instructional Tasks*: keeps record of attendance; checks home assignments; grades papers; completes report cards; moderates extracurricular activities; assists in the supervision of the lunchroom and school yard; conducts formal and informal parent conferences to communicate student progress; monitors student wellness and refers students with problems to those qualified to help
*Professional Responsibilities*: participates actively in faculty meetings; accepts membership on school committees; attends educational workshops and conferences; continues study for further development through in-service courses or courses for advanced degrees; maintains good relationships and works cooperatively with all members of the school community in planning activities and policies relating to the school
